The police arrested the driver, Harswaroop Singh, son of Satnam Singh, a resident of village Nave Nag, Majitha.

The accused will be taken into custody, and further investigations into his connections and activities will be conducted, which may lead to additional disclosures.

Police Commissioner Amritsar Ranjit Singh Dhillon said that, In the last two months, the police have arrested 16 accused in 8 cases of illegal weapons along with 28 pistols and three revolvers. The police have arrested 18 culprits in other serious cases. According to the Police Commissioner, 85 seminars have also been organized to make people aware about drugs and crimes.

He said that, Amritsar police has taken strict action against drug smugglers in the last two months under which property worth about 2 crores has been confiscated. This property was confiscated in 4 cases. Apart from this, 99 cases of drug smuggling were registered by the police. In these cases, 155 people have been arrested with 32.550 kg heroin. Drug money worth Rs 1,18,43,720, 9.261 kg opium and 8 cars and 6 two wheelers have also been recovered from the accused.
