Amritsar: In a major breakthrough against cross-border drug network, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) Amritsar on Sunday busted a cross-border heroin smuggling racket and recovered 6 kg heroin, 67 live cartridges, 2 magazines, 6 mobile phones.
Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said that in this regard an FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act and the matter is being investigated.

Counter Intelligence received information which led to a raid in village Jafarpur, district Gurdaspur. The accused, Iqbal Singh, managed to escape by throwing his bag. During the search, 6 kg of heroin, 67 live cartridges of .30 bore, 2 magazines, and 6 mobile phones (including a broken iPhone and a Jio dongle) were recovered from the spot.
Police have registered a case against drug smuggler Iqbal Singh resident of village Jafarpur district Gurdaspur at police station State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Amritsar under several sections including section 21,25,29 NDPS and Arms Act.
