Dry weather in Punjab and Chandigarh till Feb 24; Bright sunshine-cool winds to prevail

The weather in Punjab and Chandigarh will change today. The weather will remain dry until February 24th. There is no chance of rain or fog. Meanwhile, northerly winds will begin to blow. Although the sun will shine, the day will remain cool.

In the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature dropped by 1.9 degrees. However, it remains 2.5 degrees above normal. The highest temperature of 25.6 degrees was recorded in Ludhiana. Although no rain has been recorded in the last two days, some areas have experienced drizzle.

Current Weather Conditions

The Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for rain and thunderstorms for the last two days. This has certainly brought about a change in the weather. Meanwhile, a Western Disturbance remains over central Pakistan and the surrounding Punjab region. It is present as a cyclonic system at an altitude of approximately 3.1 to 5.8 kilometers above sea level.

Due to this, an upper-air cyclonic circulation (up to an altitude of approximately 1.5 kilometers) has formed over Punjab and surrounding areas. Additionally, another western disturbance is active over southeastern Pakistan and surrounding areas.

It extends to an altitude of approximately 7.6 kilometers above sea level and is tilting northwestward as it moves upward. Consequently, winds will now blow, but there will be no significant change.

Minimum temperatures will decrease by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius

Meteorological Department Director Surendra Pal Singh stated that the minimum temperature may decrease by approximately 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next two days. After that, no significant change in temperatures is expected.

Maximum temperatures may decrease by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next 24 hours. This may be followed by an increase of 2 to 4 degrees over the next three days. Thereafter, there will be no significant change in temperatures.
