Dry weather in Punjab and Chandigarh: Maximum temperature drops; Adampur remains coldest

The weather in Punjab and Chandigarh is expected to remain dry today. Day and night temperatures are decreasing in most areas. The average maximum temperature has dropped by 0.1°C, now approaching normal temperatures. Bathinda recorded the highest temperature of 28.1°C.

While Adampur recorded the lowest temperature of 6.0°C, light fog is also occurring in some areas of Punjab. According to the Meteorological Department, night temperatures may drop by approximately 2 to 4°C in the next four days.

Air pollution in many districts

Air pollution remains prevalent in the state and Chandigarh due to stubble burning. At 6 am, Amritsar’s AQI was recorded at 104. Jalandhar’s AQI was 126, Khanna’s AQI was 126, Ludhiana’s AQI was 157, Mandi Gobindgarh’s AQI was 190, and Patiala’s AQI was 147.

While Sector 22 in Chandigarh recorded an AQI of 166, Sector 25 recorded an AQI of 166, and Sector 53 recorded an AQI of 148. Doctors say that people should wear masks when leaving their homes during the winter season.

Stubble burning cases decreased
Regarding stubble burning cases, a total of 5,088 cases were reported from September 15, 2025, to November 24, 2025. However, in 2024, 10,909 cases were reported, an increase of approximately 53%. In 2023, 36,663 cases were reported, an increase of approximately 86%. In 2021, 71,304 cases were reported. This time, the Pollution Control Board is strict regarding stubble burning cases and various measures have been taken.
