Dubai-Mumbai IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Rajkot After Smoke Detected in Cargo Hold

New Delhi: An IndiGo flight travelling from Dubai to Mumbai made an emergency landing at Rajkot’s Hirasar Airport on Monday after smoke was detected in the aircraft’s cargo hold. The aircraft landed safely, and all 194 passengers and crew members on board were evacuated without any injuries.

The Airbus A321, operating as flight IGO1452, was carrying 194 people when the crew reported smoke in the cargo hold area. As a precaution, airport authorities declared a full emergency at 2:45 p.m. to ensure passenger safety.

The aircraft landed safely at 3:27 p.m., where emergency response teams, including police and fire department personnel, had already been deployed in anticipation of a possible fire.

All passengers evacuated safely

Rajkot Airport Director Diganta Borah confirmed that the aircraft landed safely and all passengers were evacuated without incident.

“An IndiGo flight operating from Dubai to Mumbai made an emergency landing at Rajkot airport after smoke was detected in the cargo hold area. The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers are safe,” Borah said.

Authorities said the swift emergency response helped avert any untoward incident.

Investigation underway

Following the emergency landing, officials launched an investigation to determine the source of the smoke in the cargo hold.

Technical teams are expected to inspect the aircraft before it is cleared for further operations. IndiGo has not yet issued a detailed statement on the cause of the smoke.

Airport authorities said further information will be shared after the investigation is completed.
