     Dutch tour bus crashes in Swiss mountainous region, 5 dead, 40 injured

    Switzerland: A Dutch tour bus was involved in a horrific accident in Switzerland’s eastern Alpine region on Thursday. At least 5 people died and around 40 were injured. Three of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.

    Bus went off the road and overturned

    The accident occurred between Susch and Zernez in the Graubünden canton. According to police, the bus collided with a roadside barrier, went off the road, and overturned. No other vehicles were reported involved in the accident.

    The bus was carrying Dutch tourists

    The bus was carrying 45 adult passengers and was operated by a Dutch tour company. According to initial information, the tourists were on a day-long visit to Switzerland from Austria. Following the accident, the process of identifying the deceased and injured was initiated.

    Injured transported to hospital

    A massive rescue and relief operation was launched following the accident. Police, firefighters, ambulances, and rescue helicopters were deployed to the scene. The injured were admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

    According to police, five people died, three were seriously injured, seven suffered moderate injuries, and 30 suffered minor injuries. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident.

    Swiss President Guy Parmelin expressed grief over the accident and offered condolences to the victims and their families.
