ECI Issues Notification for Haryana Rajya Sabha Elections: Nominations Open, Voting on March 16

The Election Commission of India (ECI) today issued a notification to fill the two vacant Rajya Sabha seats from Haryana that will become vacant on April 9th. Following this, the election process has begun. Interested and eligible candidates can now file their nominations until March 5th. Voting has been finalized on March 16th.

In the notification issued by the ECI, Haryana IAS Pankaj Agarwal has been appointed as the Returning Officer. Pankaj Agarwal currently serves as Principal Secretary in the Agriculture Department. Gaurav Goyal, Deputy Secretary of the Haryana Legislative Assembly, has been appointed as the Assistant Returning Officer.

The terms of two BJP Rajya Sabha MPs, Kiran Chaudhary and Ramchandra Jangra, end April 9. Currently, the BJP holds both seats. On Wednesday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notification for 37 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states. The results will be announced in the evening after voting on March 16.
