ED Raid on Suspended DIG Bhullar residence; Cash, Gold Seized

The troubles of Punjab Police suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, arrested by the CBI in a corruption case, have increased. Now, the ED has set its sights on him. The ED raided his residence in Chandigarh.

During the CBI raids, a large amount of cash and valuable items were recovered from Bhullar’s residence and farmhouse in Chandigarh. The seizure included cash amounting to approximately ₹7.36 crore, around 2.5 kilograms of gold, silver jewelry (valued at about ₹2.32 crore), 26 luxury watches (brands like Rolex and Rado). Additionally, documents of more than 50 immovable properties in the name of his family, luxury cars such as Mercedes and Audi, four weapons, and 108 bottles of foreign liquor were also seized.

The CBI had arrested DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar from his office in Mohali on 16 October 2025. He was caught red-handed in the case of demanding a bribe of ₹8 lakh and receiving ₹5 lakh from a scrap dealer (Aakash Batta).

The businessman alleged that Bhullar was demanding a monthly ‘service-water’ (bribe) in exchange for ‘settling’ an old FIR filed against them in 2023 and providing security in the future. A case was registered against him under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.

Bail petitions were also rejected in 2026

After the arrest, the CBI investigated his assets. On October 29, 2025, a second case of disproportionate assets was registered against him. Bhullar has been in judicial custody at Burail Jail (Model Jail) in Chandigarh since October 17, 2025. His custody period has been extended by the court time and again, and most recently, his bail petitions were also rejected in April 2026.
