ED Conducts Raids at 11 Locations Linked to Suspended DIG Bhullar

Chandigarh: The troubles of Harcharan Singh Bhullar, the suspended DIG of the Punjab Police arrested in a corruption case, have further intensified. On Monday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid at his residence in Chandigarh. The ED is conducting search operations in the case involving Bhullar and others under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. During this operation, the ED recovered a bag and various documents from an Innova car.

Searches are being conducted by the ED at a total of 11 locations under Section 17 of the PMLA. These locations include Chandigarh (2), Ludhiana (5), Patiala (2), Nabha (1), and Jalandhar (1). All these locations are reported to be linked to the accused, his associates and suspected ‘benami’ (proxy) individuals.

Large Quantities of Cash and Valuables Recovered

Earlier, during raids conducted by the CBI, large quantities of cash and valuables were recovered from Bhullar’s residence and farmhouse in Chandigarh. The recoveries included approximately ₹7.36 crore in cash, 2.5 kilograms of gold, silver jewelry (valued at approximately ₹2.32 crore), and 26 luxury watches including brands like Rolex and Rado. Additionally, documents pertaining to over 50 immovable properties registered in the names of his family members, luxury cars such as Mercedes and Audi, four firearms, and 108 bottles of foreign liquor were also recovered.

Permission Granted Two Days Ago

Two days ago (on April 25), a special court in Chandigarh granted permission to the CBI to initiate a new preliminary inquiry against unidentified public servants and middlemen. This new investigation places several other senior IAS and IPS officers of Punjab under scrutiny. The investigative agency has recovered a diary and electronic evidence pointing to an organized corruption network.
