Hoshiarpur (Punjab): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the Hoshiarpur residence of senior Congress leader and former Punjab Cabinet Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Monday morning. A team of ED officials, accompanied by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, arrived at his residence early in the morning and began a search operation.

ED team arrived in 3-4 vehicles at 5 a.m

According to preliminary information, ED teams arrived at Sunder Sham Arora’s residence in three to four vehicles around 5 a.m. on Monday. CRPF personnel were also present with the officials. The team began a search operation.

It is reported that former Hoshiarpur MLA Sunder Sham Arora was present at his residence at the time. He is being questioned and investigated by the authorities.

However, the exact reason behind the ED’s action and the specific case under which the search is being conducted has not yet been officially disclosed.

The IT Department and Vigilance have previously conducted operations

Investigative agencies have previously raided Sunder Sham Arora’s premises. In January of this year, an Income Tax Department team raided his residence on Jodhmal Road in Hoshiarpur.

This investigation lasted approximately 62 hours. During this period, Income Tax Department officials examined documents and questioned Sunder Sham Arora.

Following the raid, the former minister held a press conference to clarify that the raid at his residence was conducted by the Income Tax Department, not the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Arrested in a ₹50 lakh bribery case

While serving as a minister, Sunder Sham Arora faced corruption charges. The Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested him for allegedly attempting to bribe a vigilance officer with ₹50 lakh. This case is currently pending in court.

The ED’s latest raid on the former minister’s residence has sparked political activity in Hoshiarpur. The search operation is currently underway.

The ED has not yet issued an official statement. The agency has also not clarified the case related to Monday’s raid or what has been uncovered so far during the investigation.
