ED raids prominent CAs in Jalandhar-Ludhiana; Kejriwal says BJP is harassing Hindu businessmen

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid on Tuesday at the residence of a Chartered Accountant (CA) in Jalandhar’s New Jawahar Nagar. An ED team arrived at the location in the morning and began examining documents. Teams also visited the residence of a CA in Ludhiana. Reports indicate that ED raids have been carried out at multiple locations across Punjab.

However, neither the police nor the ED has shared any official information regarding the specific businessman and CA involved. The operation was kept strictly confidential. The raids have created an atmosphere of panic within the business community.

According to reports, ED teams also visited the homes of two politicians in Jalandhar. Previously, the ED had raided the residence of Ashok Mittal, Chairman of Lovely University and a Rajya Sabha member from Punjab, in Jalandhar.

Commenting on the agency’s action, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote on social media: “The ‘ED Party’ is once again conducting raids on Hindu businessmen in Punjab. The ‘ED Party’ is harassing small Hindu businessmen in Punjab. I appeal to all businessmen not to panic. The entire state of Punjab and the Punjab government stand with you. Together, we will confront the ‘ED Party’.”

Raids at CA’s Residence and Office

The ED raided both the residence and the office of CA Amit Arora. His residence is located in New Jawahar Nagar, while his office is near Chunmun Mall. According to ED sources, the raid was conducted in connection with a case of possessing assets disproportionate to known sources of income.

NIA Raid in Mansa

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) also conducted a raid in Mansa district. The agency cornered a young man there; investigators suspect he was in contact with Pakistani don Shahzad Bhatti.
