Education is a Collective Responsibility of Society, not just the Government: Banvir Singh

Chandigarh: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh North Region Publicity Chief Banvir Singh said that the responsibility of providing education to all sections of society does not lie solely with the government. Every aware member of society should contribute to this noble mission according to their ability.

He said that fundamental values such as instilling humanity, teaching the difference between duty and wrongdoing, and giving the strength to face life with courage and patience are primarily nurtured within the family.

He was addressing an intellectual citizens’ gathering at Keshav Niwas in Chandigarh. On this occasion, the Punjabi translation of the book “Bhartiya Shiksha Drishti,” a compilation of thoughts on education by Mohan Bhagwat, the Sarsanghchalak of the RSS, was formally released.

Banvir Singh emphasized that continuous dialogue between the younger and older generations is essential. Through such dialogue, a sense of responsibility toward society, the virtues of personal and national character, respect for values and hard work, and the ability to stay away from negative influences can be developed. He said that these values can be cultivated through family awareness initiatives (Kutumb Prabodhan).

He further stated that education is not limited to schools. At home, children also learn compassion, empathy, and human values through the words and actions of parents and elders. Religion also plays an important role in shaping the lives of the next generation through education.

Stressing the importance of education that instills pride in one’s mother tongue, he said that such education should nurture a sense of belonging toward one’s religion, culture, society, land, water, forests, and animals. This kind of education has the potential to unite the world through a thread of emotional connection and strengthen self-respect.

The Punjabi translation of the book “Bhartiya Shiksha Drishti,” compiled by Ravi Kumar, has been published with the support of the Vidya Bharati Punjab contact department.

Banvir Singh was the chief speaker at the event.

The program was chaired by Dhruv Kanya Shukla, while Vijay Nadda, North Region Organization Minister of Vidya Bharati, presented the introductory remarks. On this occasion, Rajendra, Punjab Province Organization Minister of Vidya Bharati; Ajay, Provincial Publicity Head of the RSS; and Advocate Baljinder Singh, Chandigarh Department Karyavah, were also present.

Members of the Vidya Bharati contact department, including Ramesh Arora, Parveen Gupta, Manish Sharma, and Karamjit Parmar, also attended the event.
