Jaipur, Rajasthan: In a tragic incident early Wednesday, a private sleeper bus carrying more than 40 passengers collided head-on with a trailer truck on National Highway 52 near Laxmangarh in Sikar district, Rajasthan.

The impact was so severe that the entire front of the bus was crushed.

Four passengers — three men and one woman — died instantly, while at least 27 others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospitals in Sikar and surrounding areas.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus, travelling from Haryana toward Salasar, lost control before crashing into the oncoming truck. Police have filed a case against the bus driver for rash driving.

In a separate tragedy in Madhya Pradesh, four police personnel were killed around midnight on the Sagar-Bina road when a speeding truck loaded with stones crashed into their patrolling Bolero from behind.

The team was returning from routine night checking duties. All four officers died on the spot, while the vehicle’s driver remains critically injured.

The truck driver fled after the collision, but the abandoned vehicle has been seized, and a search is underway.

The twin accidents have once again underscored the alarming number of road fatalities on Indian highways. Authorities in both states have urged motorists to obey speed limits and avoid night travel.

Compensation has been announced for the families of the deceased as investigations continue into both incidents.
