Jalandhar: Harpreet Singh Sudan, IAS, appointed by the Punjab State Election Commission as Election Observer for the upcoming municipal elections in Jalandhar, reviewed election preparations in a meeting with senior district officials.
Chairing the meeting with District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal at the District Administrative Complex, Sudan instructed that the voting process be carried out impartially, transparently, and securely. He emphasized the strict adherence to the directives and rules of the State Election Commission.
The observer reviewed arrangements, including polling booths, staff training, dispatch and collection centers, EVM storage in strong rooms after polling, and security deployment. He also called for technical assistance to ensure a smooth voting process. Sudan urged all officials to perform their duties with full diligence and integrity, including election-duty police officers who were instructed to remain vigilant throughout the election process.
The observer commended district officials for peacefully completing the nomination and scrutiny processes. Dr. Aggarwal assured strict compliance with the State Election Commission’s directives and shared details of strengthened coordination with PCS rank officers appointed for smooth conduct. He emphasized that the entire election process would be free, fair, and peaceful.
DCP Aditya detailed security arrangements, stating that vigilance had already been increased, and additional forces would be deployed during polling.
Senior officials present included Sunil Phogat IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, SDMs Randeep Singh and Balbir Raj Singh, PUDA EO Alka Kalia, and others.
