Bhopal: On the final day of campaigning for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is set to spearhead the BJP’s efforts in Mumbai on Monday. He will engage in five roadshows and host public rallies in various Assembly segments, including Dharavi and Kandivali.
As the vigorous campaign draws to a close, the single-phase voting for all 288 constituencies is scheduled for November 20. On Sunday, CM Yadav addressed three rallies in Jalgaon and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, encouraging voters to support the BJP candidates.
Recognized as one of the BJP’s prominent campaigners for the elections, Yadav has visited Maharashtra multiple times in recent weeks, previously campaigning in Nagpur and Amravati districts. Before departing for Mumbai from Bhopal on Monday, he expressed optimism that the Mahayuti alliance would regain power in Maharashtra post-elections.
He also noted the growing public support for the BJP under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, emphasizing the country’s comprehensive development during Modi’s tenure and his rising popularity globally.
The upcoming elections will see a contest primarily between two coalitions: the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which consists of Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), the NCP led by Sharad Pawar, and the Congress, versus the Mahayuti Alliance, combining the BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP. In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena took 56, and the Congress secured 44.
Voting for all 288 seats in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly will occur on November 20, with results expected on November 23. The distribution of the seats includes 234 in the general category, 29 reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 25 for Scheduled Tribes (ST).
