Shahkot/Jalandhar : Restaurants, sweet shops, bakeries and other food and beverage shops of Vidhan Sabha constituency Shahkot have joined hands with district administration in the voters’ awareness campaign to ensure maximum voter participation during the Lok Sabha elections-2024.
The owners of these restaurants, sweetshops, bakeries and other eateries of Halka Shahkot voluntarily offered 5 to 25 percent discount for voters after Poling on June 1, 2024. And the other Jalandhar Sports Industry also offer special discount on polling day. Sports Industry Association announce that on polling day show your finger and get 25% discount on sports goods.
District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal thanked the owners of these restaurants, sweet shops and other eateries for joining this campaign and said that this initiative will help in ensuring the active participation of the voters, especially young voters in the elections.
He also said that in order to achieve the target of more than 70 % voting for Lok Sabha constituency Jalandhar, the district administration is making large-scale efforts to motivate voters to exercise their right to vote. He also appealed to the people to cast their vote judiciously without any fear on the polling day.
After voting, voters can get this discount on food items purchased from selected restaurants, sweet shops, bakeries and other eateries in Halka Shahkot by showing the ink mark on their finger.
Assistant Returning Officer Shahkot Rishabh Bansal said that various eateries in block Shahkot including Dominic Pizza, Pizza 360, Hawker Pizza, Babbu Fast Food, Jain Fast Food, Anmol Bakery, Gagan Bakery, Bikaner Bakery, Nikka Chicken Corner, Paul Chicken Corner, N.F. C., Manga Chicken Corner, Manjanu, Meshi Da Dhaba, and in block Lohian Khas’s My Cafe, Pizza 360, Hawker Pizza, Usha Bakery, Pratap Bakery, Sunrise Sweet Shop, Gyan Sweet Shop, Sachdeva Fast Food, Dhanju Sweet Shop, New Chandi sweet shop have announced to give discount for two days i.e. June 1 and 2, 2024.
Likewise, in block Mehatpur shops including Aneja Sweet Shop, Sood Sweet Shop, Lohi Sweet Shop, JK Sweet Shop, Swarn Spicy Hot, Verma Food, Dominic Pizza, Pizza6 360, and Hot & crusty will give the benefit of this discount on June 1.
Apart from this, it was also decided to give a discount of 05 to 10 percent on the purchase of goods on June 1 and 2 at cosmetic shops to voters. It is pertinent to mention here that earlier hotel/restaurant owners/managers of Jalandhar city had also joined the voter awareness campaign of the district administration.
Sports industry to offer 25% discount on sport goods
With an aim to ensure the maximum engagement of civil society in the biggest festival of democracy, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal today urged Traders’ Associations, Sports Goods Association Members to be the part of voter awareness to ensure the maximum voting in June 1, 2024.
Addressing a meeting of traders/industrialists related to sports industry, Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal asked them to play a significant role in voter awareness drive by putting up sign boards/banners etc regarding voters’ awareness at their respective industrial units so that employees/ laborers should be sensitize about their voting right. He also asked them to encourage their workers to cast their votes judiciously.
Taking part in deliberation, representatives of Khel Udyog Sangh announced that the sports goods traders will give a 25 % discount on the sale of sports goods on June 1, 2024 to those who will cast their votes in upcoming elections.
They also announced that the industrial units related to the sports industry will exempt their workers from the night shifts on the eve of poll day so that they can cast their votes the next day. The industrialists and traders also assured their full cooperation in the awareness drive by encouraging their workers.
The Deputy Commissioner also asked the GM Industry to remain in touch with traders association to ensure their maximum participation in electoral process besides assisting them in voter awareness.
Prominent amongst others present in the meeting included ADC cum Nodal Officer SVEEP Jasbir Singh, President Khel Udhyog Sangh Ravinder Dhir, Vijay Dhir, Parveen Anand, Ramesh Anand, Vipan, Sulabh Mahajan, Rajinder Chatrath, and Shyam Sunder Mahajan.
