Ludhiana:
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Tuesday reviewed the onging voter registration process for the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections.

Sawhney held a meeting with SDMs, Tehsildars, heads of education department, Women and Child Development, Police, Health, Mandi Board, Social Security, Agriculture, and BLOs and took stock of work performed by teams so far. She stated that this is the last week of the voter registration and teams should not leave any eligible voter from getting their vote registered. She also appreciated those BLOs who have registered maximum voters. Absent BLOs will be issued showcause notice.

For Women voters, it is optional and not mandatory to paste their photos on voter enrollment forms. The voters who have registered themselves after October 21, 2023 as per Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee election schedule, do not need to apply again.

Sawhney also highlighted that the registration forms are available on the district administration’s website Ludhiana.nic.in and encouraged people to download and submit them to their BLOs/patwaris within the given timeframe.

The voter registration process will continue until September 16. Voter lists will be prepared and printed from September 17 to October 8. The preliminary e-roll will be published on October 9, and claims and objections will be accepted until October 29. The final voters’ list is scheduled for publication on November 26.
