Chandigarh: Minister of State in the Central Government Ravneet Singh Bittu will file his nomination papers for Rajya Sabha in Rajasthan Assembly on Wednesday. Earlier, there were speculations that he was being sent to Rajya Sabha from Haryana, but from Haryana, BJP has fielded senior leader Kiran Chaudhary, who joined BJP from Congress, from a state ruled by its party.
BJP also has a full majority government in Rajasthan and the path of Ravneet Singh Bittu to Rajya Sabha from there is absolutely clear and safe. Let us tell you that Ravneet Singh Bittu was a Congress MP from Ludhiana. But just before the Lok Sabha elections, he had switched sides and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. BJP had made him its candidate from Ludhiana in the Lok Sabha elections. But he lost to Congress state president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring from Ludhiana, from where he had been winning continuously on Congress ticket. But despite losing, BJP made him Minister of State at the Centre.
After becoming Minister of State at the Centre, it was mandatory for him to get elected to Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha within six months. To ensure his seat, the BJP government at the Centre decided to send him to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan.
