Dantewada (Chhattisgarh) : Security forces killed 30 Naxalites on Friday in Chhattisgarh. The encounter took place in the forest between Nendur and Thulthuli villages of Orchha police station area of Dantewada-Narayanpur district border. The encounter, which is still underway, has resulted in the recovery of the bodies of all seven deceased Naxals, along with a large cache of weapons like the AK 47 and SLR.
The encounter broke out between security personnel and naxalites in the Abhujmaad forest along the border of Narayanpur and Dantewada district after the police team launched a search operation following an input regarding the presence of naxalites in the region. IG Sundarraj P. said that the bodies of 30 Naxalites have been recovered. Currently, 34 Naxalites are reported to have been killed. Their number may increase.
Firing continued intermittently for 2 hours during the encounter. After this, when the firing stopped, a search operation was conducted By 6 pm, the soldiers also recovered a large quantity of AK-47, SLR and many other weapons. IG Sundarraj has called it the biggest Naxal operation till date. About 6 months ago, 29 Naxalites were killed in Kanker.
