Uttar Pradesh Deoria rape case accused fled from custody, police arrest him after encounter

Deoria (Uttar Pradesh): The accused of raping a seven-year-old girl, who had escaped from police custody, was arrested again after an encounter. Police reported on Monday that the accused was shot in the leg during the encounter. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dipendra Nath Chaudhary said that a girl had gone to a nearby shop.

Deoria (Uttar Pradesh): The accused of raping a seven-year-old girl, who had escaped from police custody, was arrested again after an encounter. Police reported on Monday that the accused was shot in the leg during the encounter. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dipendra Nath Chaudhary said that a girl had gone to a nearby shop to buy milk in the Sadar police station area. 41-year-old Safiullah, who was standing at the shop, took her inside and allegedly raped her.

Chaudhary said on Monday that the Kotwali police had registered a case on Sunday regarding the rape of a minor girl and had arrested the accused. According to the ASP, the accused’s health deteriorated suddenly during the night between Sunday and Monday. While being taken to the hospital, he managed to escape by pushing the police personnel.

Three teams were subsequently formed to search for the accused. Later that night, an encounter took place between the accused and a police team in the Sonu Ghat area under the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station. The accused was shot in the leg during the encounter and was subsequently apprehended. Chaudhary stated that the accused has been arrested and admitted to Maharishi Devraha Baba Medical College for treatment. He also mentioned that legal action is being pursued in this case.
