End of 10-Minute Delivery Pressure Brings Relief to Gig Workers: AAP MP Raghav Chadha

New Delhi: AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Wednesday welcomed the easing of the 10-minute delivery pressure on delivery riders, calling it a significant victory for millions of gig workers across the country.

‘Not Just a Speech, but a Real Change’

Meeting delivery riders, Chadha said the development was not merely the echo of a speech made in Parliament but the outcome of sustained struggle by hardworking and honest gig workers. He described the moment as a collective win achieved through perseverance and public advocacy.

Quoting a popular couplet — “Who says the sky cannot be pierced? Throw a stone with full conviction” — Chadha emphasized that meaningful change is possible when issues affecting workers are raised with sincerity and determination.

According to Chadha, the end of unrealistic delivery timelines will reduce unsafe work pressure and bring dignity and safety back to delivery jobs. He noted that lakhs and crores of gig workers had long raised concerns over harsh targets that put their lives at risk.

Centre Acknowledged for Responding to Workers’ Concerns

The Rajya Sabha MP expressed heartfelt gratitude to the central government for understanding the pain and compulsions of gig workers. He said the government’s response showed sensitivity towards the realities faced by those working in the gig economy.

Chadha said he felt satisfied that a positive and constructive discussion around gig workers’ rights and working conditions had now begun in the country. He added that this should be the first step towards long-term reforms and stronger social security for gig workers.
