Mumbai: On January 12, in Mumbai, actress Celina Jaitly shared a heartfelt tribute to her late mother by wearing her cherished black lace saree, describing it as her “most valuable treasure.” In a post on Instagram, Celina posed in her backyard, showcasing the beautiful saree.
She captioned the photo: “Meri maa ki saree, uski mamta ki khushbu, uske sangharsh ki gawaahi aur uske pyaar ka anmol tohfa hai,” which translates to “My mother’s saree, the fragrance of her affection, the testimony of her struggles, and the priceless gift of her love.” Celina expressed that the saree envelops her in her mother’s essence, akin to a warm hug.

Highlighting her mother’s strength as an Indian Army wife, Celina noted that she embodied grace and resilience, skillfully blending elegance with simplicity. She emphasized that her mother’s saree carries the love, struggles, and priceless affection she received.
Celina’s mother, Meeta, passed away on June 8, 2018, after a prolonged battle with cancer.
On the professional front, Celina made her acting debut in Feroz Khan’s 2003 film Janasheen, a romantic action thriller partially filmed in Afghanistan. Before her film career, she was crowned Femina Miss India 2001 and finished as the 4th runner-up in the Miss Universe 2001 pageant. Celina is known for her roles in films like No Entry, Apna Sapna Money Money, Golmaal Returns, and Thank You. Her last appearance was in the 2011 Kannada film Shrimathi, directed by Ravi Kumar, which was a remake of the Bollywood film Aitraaz.
