Mumbai: Emraan Hashmi has delighted his fans by announcing Awarapan 2, a sequel to his 2007 release. Although Awarapan, which also starred Shriya Saran and Mrinalini Sharma, underperformed at the box office, it has since gained cult status, with its songs remaining popular among audiences.
The actor took to social media to share the news, posting, “Bas mujhe kuch aur der zinda rakh… #Awarapan2 in cinemas, 3rd April 2026.” He also released a video featuring scenes from the original film, ending with his character Shivam coming back to life. For those unfamiliar, Shivam died at the end of Awarapan, leaving fans curious about whether the sequel will revive his character or if Awarapan 2 will serve as a spiritual sequel.
Who Will Be the Female Lead?
Emraan Hashmi is confirmed to reprise his role in Awarapan 2, but the makers have not yet announced the female lead. This has left fans speculating whether Shriya Saran will return in the sequel.
Recent Reunion of Emraan and Shriya
Interestingly, Emraan and Shriya were recently seen together in the series Showtime, which streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. Although they were not paired opposite each other, their on-screen reunion was well received by fans.
