Mumbai: Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, who rose to fame with chart-toppers like Angrezi Beat, Brown Rang, and Lungi Dance, has opened up about the tumultuous chapters of his personal life in the Netflix documentary ‘Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous’. The singer’s sister has now made startling allegations against his ex-wife, Shalini Talwar, accusing her of forcing him to perform during a mental health crisis.
In the documentary, Honey Singh reflects on his marriage and eventual divorce from Shalini, who also served as his manager. While the couple reached an out-of-court settlement, the rapper refrained from divulging details, simply wishing her well. “Life is a circle. What goes around comes around. I wish her a great life ahead,” he remarked, adding that their separation marked a challenging period for him and his family.
His sister shed light on a distressing incident during a U.S. tour, alleging that Shalini insisted he perform despite his visible mental distress. “He messaged me saying, ‘Gudiya, mujhe please bacha lo.’ Later, I was told he was hospitalised with stitches on his head,” she revealed, calling it one of the darkest times for the family.
Honey Singh has admitted to mistakes in his marriage, acknowledging how fame, addiction, and a chaotic lifestyle led to neglect. “I completely lost myself in money, fame, and addiction. I almost left Shalini and forgot about my family,” he confessed during an interview with The Lallantop.
Despite the personal struggles, Honey Singh’s music continues to leave a lasting impact. The Netflix documentary delves deeper into his life, exploring the highs and lows of one of India’s most celebrated music icons.
