Mumbai: After Triptii Dimri’s exit, dancer and content creator Imanvi Esmail is likely to star opposite Kartik Aaryan in director Anurag Basu’s upcoming romance saga.
Earlier, Mid-day reported that Aashiqui 3, featuring Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri, was postponed indefinitely. Following this, Basu began work on a fresh love story. Now, it seems the filmmakers have zeroed in on Imanvi Esmail, who is already working with producer Bhushan Kumar on her debut film alongside Prabhas.
A source revealed that Kumar is negotiating with Imanvi’s current project team to allow her to take on Basu’s film. “Imanvi has signed an exclusivity agreement preventing her from taking on new projects until Prabhas’ film releases. However, since Kartik’s film is scheduled after that, Bhushan is in talks to secure permissions. If the deal doesn’t work out, the makers will explore other options,” the source added.
While there is no animosity between the makers and Dimri, her packed schedule with Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film ruled her out. “Triptii is tied up for six months, and the team wanted a fresh face. The final choice will depend on the look test and the actors’ chemistry,” the insider said.
Sara Ali Khan is another strong contender for the role, as she recently worked with Basu on Metro… In Dino. The decision on casting is expected by the end of the month.
Imanvi, an aspiring actor raised in the US, will debut in Hanu Raghavapudi’s film with Prabhas, which also stars Mithun Chakraborty and Jaya Prada. Known for her passion for dance, Imanvi credits her mother for introducing her to Bollywood icons like Rekha and Madhuri Dixit. Her choreography went viral in 2020, earning her 903K Instagram followers and 1.8 million YouTube subscribers.
