Chennai (Tamil Nadu): Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina is preparing to make his acting debut in a Tamil film produced by Dream Knight Stories (DKS). DKS announced the news on their Instagram account with a video showing Raina entering a cricket stadium to cheering fans, hinting that the film will revolve around cricket.
The movie is directed by Logan and produced by D Saravana Kumar under the DKS banner. The production team shared a message welcoming ‘Chinna Thala’ Raina to the project but has not yet disclosed further details about the film.
Indian cricketer Shivam Dube, who plays as a pinch hitter for Chennai Super Kings, officially introduced the production house and its logo during the announcement. Raina is a beloved figure in Chennai due to his outstanding performance with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Known as one of India’s best middle-order batters, Raina was the first Indian to score a century in all formats of international cricket.
In 322 international matches, he scored 7,988 runs with an average of 32.87 and a strike rate exceeding 92, including seven centuries and 48 half-centuries, with a top score of 120. Raina played a key role in India’s victories in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. His memorable knocks include an unbeaten 34 against Australia in the 2011 World Cup quarterfinals and a 36* in the semi-finals against Pakistan—both regarded as some of the best clutch performances by a middle-order batter on big stages.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Raina also represented CSK and Gujarat Lions (2016-2017). He is the fifth-highest all-time run-scorer in league history, amassing 5,528 runs in 205 matches at an average of 32.51 and a strike rate above 136.73. He has scored a century and 39 fifties, with his highest score being an unbeaten 100*. Raina is famously called ‘Mr IPL’ for his consistency across seasons and has secured four IPL titles with CSK.
