Mumbai: Sanya Malhotra starrer film Mrs. was released on Zee5 on February 7. This film shows the story of a housewife who is forced to give up her dreams while doing everyday work. The film is getting a lot of appreciation from the public, however now Kangana Ranaut has targeted the film and its concept without naming the film. Citing the scriptures, Kangana said that marriage is done for children and the elderly and this is what should happen, it should not be done for validation.
Kangana Ranaut wrote in the story section of her official Instagram account, Growing up I did not see any woman who did not dictate to her house, did not order everyone when to sleep, when to eat and when to go out, did not ask for the account of every rupee spent by her husband and people did not listen to her. The only quarrel was about the boys going out and drinking with friends every day. Whenever Papa wanted to eat out with us, mother used to shout, because it was her pleasure to cook for us.
Further, the actress wrote, this way they could control many things, like hygiene, nutrition of food. Elders who worked for their children were their emotional support system. The women of the house, Dadi, Mamma, Chachi were queens for us and we expected to be like them. Of course there can be a case of undervaluing women, but let’s stop normalising joint families and demonising the elderly. Let’s stop comparing the women of the house with the salaried people. Also, let’s not compare the joy of building a home and raising children with forced labour.
Kangana criticized the concept of the film without naming anyone and wrote, please understand that marriage is not done for validation or attention, but to do the best for the most vulnerable people. It is necessary for the elderly and children. Both are helpless, this is what the scriptures say. Our parents did everything for us and the elders, but never questioned. They just did it.
He further wrote, Many Bollywood love stories have spoiled the idea of marriage. Marriage should be like it has always been happening in our country. It always has a purpose and the purpose is Dharma, which essentially means duty. Just do your duty. Do your work and move on, life is too short and fast, if you try to get too much validation and footage you will be left alone with your therapist.
In the end, the actress has written that our biggest strength is the joint family. Divorce should not be encouraged. The young generation should not be encouraged to abandon their elderly parents.
