Mumbai: On her 50th birthday, filmmaker Karan Johar praised Ekta Kapoor as his “karmic twin,” calling her a visionary and pioneer. Sharing a throwback photo on Instagram, he wrote, “Happy birthday to my karmic twin! To the girl with the biggest heart and forever friend!” He added, “Love you Ektu… you are a visionary, a pioneer… and may you continue to lead the way and inspire future generations!”
In celebration, Ekta announced that her company, Balaji Telefilms Ltd, is partnering with Netflix to develop a variety of new projects across different storytelling formats. She emphasized that storytelling is central to Balaji’s work across cinema, TV, and digital platforms. She expressed excitement about reaching a global audience with culturally rooted and emotionally engaging stories through this collaboration, noting their past successful titles include Kathal, Pagglait, Jaane Jaan, and Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare.
Ekta launched her career at 17 and became famous for producing popular Hindi soap operas like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, and Kahiin To Hoga.
Recently, on June 3, Karan introduced his newest family member—a pet poodle named Nugget—and shared adorable photos with his kids, Yash and Roohi, expressing joy and love for their new furry friend.
He is also preparing for his upcoming film, ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu’, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, marking their second collaboration after ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ (2019).
