Mumbai: A theft involving Rs 40 lakh has been reported at the Mumbai office of Bollywood music composer Pritam Chakraborty, according to police on Sunday.
The incident was discovered when the money, kept in the office by Pritam’s manager, went missing. Vineet Chheda, Pritam’s manager, filed a complaint at the Malad Police Station, stating that the cash was brought to the office a few days prior for work purposes.
Chheda had received the money and stored it in the office, where an employee named Ashish Sayal was present. After Chheda left to retrieve some documents from Pritam’s residence, he returned to find the bag containing the cash missing. Other staff members informed him that Sayal had taken the bag, claiming he was going to deliver it to Pritam’s house.
However, when Chheda tried to contact Sayal, his phone was off. He then went to Sayal’s home but found him absent. Subsequently, Chheda reported the incident to the Malad Police Station, where a case has been registered, and an investigation is underway. Further updates are expected.
