Nushrratt Bharuccha Opens up on struggles as an outsider; says star kids get work through parents’ connections

Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha, currently in the spotlight for her new horror film Chhori 2, recently shared her thoughts on the challenges faced by outsiders in the film industry.

Mumbai, April 21: Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha, currently in the spotlight for her new horror film Chhori 2, recently shared her thoughts on the challenges faced by outsiders in the film industry. In a candid conversation with YouTuber and podcast host Shubankar Mishra, the actress reflected on how difficult it is to find work in an industry largely dominated by insiders.

“They definitely have an advantage,” Nishrratt said, referring to actors from film families. “They understand the industry better and know the right people or their parents do. They can reach places I can’t, knock on doors I don’t even know exist.”

The actress added that even getting in touch with producers or directors is a major hurdle for someone without connections. “If I want to meet a producer or director, who will give me their number? Whom should I ask?” she said.

However, she was also careful not to undermine the efforts of actors from film families. “I don’t like the term nepo kids.” I think everyone has their own struggles and pressures. Yes, they have options that I don’t, but that’s okay.”

Nushrratt revealed that in her early career, she personally messaged many industry professionals in search of work. “I was trying to reach out to a lot of people. One day, Kabir Khan replied and called me to meet,” she shared.

She expressed deep gratitude towards a few directors who have consistently supported her. “Filmmakers like Luv Ranjan, Hansal Mehta, and Vishal Furia want to work with me. I feel very close to them-they feel like family.”

Chhori 2, directed by Vishal Furia, is currently streaming on OTT platforms. The horror sequel stars Nushrratt in the lead role, alongside Saurabh Goyal, Soha Ali Khan, Kuldeep Sareen, and Pallavi Ajay.
