Mumbai: Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer has addressed the recent CBI closure report on the Sushant Singh Rajput case, highlighting the unfounded narrative surrounding her client that has circulated on social media since the actor’s death.

The CBI’s report, released over four years after Rajput’s passing, concluded that there was no evidence suggesting anyone had led him to suicide, effectively clearing Rhea Chakraborty and her family.

In his statement following the closure report, Rhea’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, expressed gratitude to the CBI for its comprehensive investigation, which led to the case being closed. He criticized the false narratives perpetuated in the media, stating that the intense scrutiny faced by innocent individuals during the pandemic was unwarranted. He urged media leaders to reconsider their actions that contributed to Rhea’s suffering and the distress experienced by her family. He noted that Rhea was unjustly imprisoned for 27 days, with the legal system eventually granting her bail.

Maneshinde emphasized his pride in defending a family with military ties without charge, and clarified misunderstandings about his fees due to the speculative nature of the media. He thanked supportive media outlets for their contributions to Rhea’s pursuit of justice and expressed hope in the safety provided by the country’s judiciary for all who seek justice.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found deceased in his Mumbai apartment on June 14, 2020.
