Mumbai: Maharashtra Cyber Cell has summoned YouTuber Samay Raina for the second time this week in connection with the lewd comments on parents on the show India’s Got Talent. Along with this, the Cyber Cell has asked Samay to appear before the investigating officer on Monday, February 17.
On Wednesday, Samay Raina’s lawyer told the cyber cell that Samay Raina is currently in the US and will return on March 17. He has also sought more time to respond to the summons.
Earlier on Wednesday, Samay Raina had given clarification in the ongoing controversy regarding his show India’s Got Talent. He claimed on Instagram that he has removed all the videos of his show from YouTube. He also said that his only intention was to make people laugh.
Samay Raina wrote,
“I am unable to handle whatever is happening. I have removed all the videos of India’s Got Latent from my channel. My only intention was to make people laugh and give them happiness. I will fully cooperate with all the agencies so that their investigation can be done properly. Thank you.”
Second FIR against Samay and Ranveer in Mumbai
Two FIRs have been registered in Mumbai so far against YouTubers Ranveer Allahabadia and Samay Raina for making lewd comments on parents on the show ‘India’s Got Talent’. This action has been taken by the Cyber Branch of Maharashtra Police. Apart from Ranveer and Samay, a case has also been registered against the 30 guests of this show who participated in the show from the first episode till now.
At the same time, the All India Cine Workers Association has written a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah to ban the show ‘India’s Got Latent’. The association says that such shows are misleading the youth of the country. The Women’s Commission has also sent summons to Allahabadia, Samay Raina and others. All have been called to the NCW office on February 17. A complaint has also been filed against Ranveer Allahabadia in Indore.
Meanwhile, a team of 5 police officers reached YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia’s house in Versova, Mumbai on Tuesday morning. On February 10, Mumbai Police had registered a case against the show’s host Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahabadia and Apoorva Makhija and the show’s organizers.
On the demand of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), YouTube has removed the controversial episode of ‘India’s Got Latent’.
Parliament’s IT committee can send notice
The matter of making lewd comments on parents in Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent had reached the Parliament. On Tuesday, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi complained to the IT Committee of Parliament and demanded action and issuance of guidelines.
Priyanka Chaturvedi said that the use of abusive language in the name of comedy cannot be tolerated. Even big politicians have come on Allahabadia’s platform, the PM has given him an award. This is not expected from a responsible person.
According to sources, the IT Committee of Parliament is considering sending a notice to Ranveer Allahabadia in this matter. Priyanka Chaturvedi is a member of this committee. According to the information, many other MPs have expressed their displeasure against this. Shiv Sena MP from Thane, Naresh Ganpat Mhaske raised this issue in Parliament and demanded a law to prevent such content.
