Ex-Powercom chief KD Chaudhary among three held in corruption case

Ludhiana: The Vigilance Bureau in Ludhiana has arrested former Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) CMD KD Chaudhary, retired SDO Sanjeev Prabhakar, and builder Amit Garg in an alleged multi-crore scam.

Allegations of spending government funds in a private colony

The investigation revealed that the accused, in collusion with each other, spent approximately ₹10 crore from government funds to install a 66 kV substation in the private housing colony ‘Basant City’. According to regulations, the builder was supposed to bear the cost.

Investigation ongoing since 2021

According to vigilance officials, the investigation into this case has been ongoing since 2021. An FIR was filed this year, leading to the arrests. Sanjeev Prabhakar retired from the department as Deputy Chief Engineer, while KD Chaudhary retired in 2017.

Investigation continues, further revelations likely

The Economic Offences Wing’s investigation has revealed that government regulations were flouted to benefit a private colony. Vigilance says the investigation is ongoing and further major revelations are likely in the case.
