Expansion of Health Services in Punjab: 100 New ‘Aam Aadmi Clinics’ to Open

The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is taking a major step towards further strengthening primary healthcare services. As part of this initiative, 100 new ‘Aam Aadmi Clinics’ are being opened for the public across various districts of Punjab starting today. With the opening of these new facilities, the total number of Aam Aadmi Clinics in the state will rise to 1,090.

The Punjab government aims to provide free and high-quality healthcare services close to people’s homes, ensuring they do not have to rely on distant hospitals for the treatment of minor or major ailments.
Inaugurations to Take Place Over Three Days

According to the Punjab government, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, and other senior public representatives will inaugurate these new clinics in different areas over a three-day period, from July 25 to July 27. Of the 100 new clinics, 73 have been established in urban areas and 27 in rural areas. This will extend the benefits of healthcare services to residents of both cities and villages.

Free Medicines and Diagnostic Tests

The Punjab government stated that 107 essential medicines will be provided to patients completely free of charge at every Aam Aadmi Clinic. Additionally, 47 types of diagnostic tests will be available at no cost. This will reduce treatment expenses for the general public and provide financial relief to needy families.

Benefits Reaped by Lakhs of People

According to Punjab government data, over 5.90 crore OPD (outpatient) patients have availed themselves of these services since the launch of the Aam Aadmi Clinic scheme. Meanwhile, more than 3.43 crore free diagnostic tests have been conducted.

Improved Access to Healthcare Services

The Punjab government asserts that the launch of these new clinics will further strengthen access to primary healthcare services. People will be able to access treatment for common illnesses, medical consultations, free medicines, and essential diagnostic tests right in their neighborhood.

This is also expected to help reduce the patient load on government hospitals. The Punjab government aims to provide timely and quality healthcare services to the maximum number of people in the state without any financial burden.
