Extortion of ₹1 Crore Demanded from Car Dealer in Ludhiana; Death threat issued

A case has come to light in Ludhiana involving a car dealer who received a call from an international number demanding a ransom of ₹1 crore and threatening his life. Acting on the victim’s complaint, the Shimlapuri police station has registered a case against unidentified accused individuals and has initiated an investigation.

In his written complaint to the police, the complainant, Rakesh Kumar, a resident of New Guru Angad Dev Colony, New Janta Nagar, stated that he operates a business involving the buying and selling of vehicles under the name “Kamal Auto Fields,” located on Gill Road.

Call Received from an International Number on April 18

According to the victim, starting April 18, 2026, he began receiving calls on his mobile number from an international number (+351927361380). When he answered the call, the person speaking from the other end threatened to kill him if he failed to pay a sum of ₹1 crore.

Caller Has Not Yet Revealed Name or Gang Affiliation

Upon receiving the threat, the victim immediately filed a complaint with the police. Currently, the victim and his family members are living in fear. The individual issuing the threats has not yet disclosed his name or the name of his gang.

Efforts Underway to Trace Location

Given the gravity of the matter, the Shimlapuri police have registered a case against the unidentified individual under Section 308(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police officials stated that efforts are currently underway to identify the caller and trace their location. They have expressed confidence that the accused will be arrested shortly.
