In Jalandhar, Punjab, people were being defrauded by creating a fake website in the name of the Manipur Kisan Yojana.
Three individuals from Rajasthan were operating the website near the Jalandhar bus stand. Jalandhar Bus Stand Outpost in-charge Mohinder Singh said that Rajasthan police had contacted them.
He said they had arrested a man who had created a fake website and defrauded farmers. He revealed that the fake website was being operated near the Jalandhar bus stand.
Farmers Targeted Through Fake Government Scheme
A fake website created in the name of farmers was being used by a group based in Jalandhar to defraud farmers in Manipur.
Sources have revealed that the website was being used to extort money from farmers in the name of government schemes.
The Jhalawar police in Rajasthan are investigating how many farmers these individuals defrauded and how much money they made.
Rajasthan Police Lead Raid Based on Inputs
Based on input from the Rajasthan Police, Jalandhar’s bus stand outpost in-charge, Mohinder Singh, along with his team, verified the fake website. With the confirmed information, the Rajasthan Police were called in, a raid was conducted, and two accused were arrested.
Mohinder Singh explained that his job was to assist the Rajasthan Police. He accompanied them on the raid. The police then arrested the two young men and took them to Rajasthan.
They only knew about the fake website. The Rajasthan Police only knows what they did there and how many people they defrauded.
Joint Operation Conducted Near Jalandhar Bus Stand
Punjab Police said that a police team had arrived from Jhalawar district in Rajasthan. They then accompanied them to conduct a raid in the Narendra Cinema street near the bus stand. Two young men were arrested there.
Accused Identified; FIR Registered in Rajasthan
Jalandhar Bus Stand Police Post in-charge Mohinder Singh said the arrested youths have been identified as Sandeep and Sannant.
An FIR, number 110/25, was registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Jhalawar, under Sections 316(2), 316(5), 318(7) of the BNS Act and the IT Act.
Police said that in a complaint filed in Rajasthan, the complainant stated that a fake website belonging to a person named Ram Avtar was created in Jalandhar.
They added that the Rajasthan police had come to Jalandhar in connection with this case and had enlisted the Bus Stand police for assistance.
