    Family returning from Vaishno Devi meets with accident in Ludhiana; one died

    Travelers returning from Vaishno Devi met with an accident in Sahnewal, Ludhiana. They were traveling in an Alto car. Reports indicate that an unidentified vehicle ahead of them braked suddenly, causing the car behind it to lose control and crash. The occupants of the car sustained significant injuries.

    One man’s condition deteriorated after he suffered a severe head injury. He was taken to a hospital and subsequently referred to Chandigarh, but he passed away on the way. The deceased’s wife and two children were also injured in the accident. The police have registered a case against the driver of the other vehicle and initiated an investigation.

    In the complaint lodged with the police, Rajnish Sharma, a resident of Mohalla Pattiwala Kath, Moradabad district, Uttar Pradesh—stated that his cousin, Narendra Kumar (46), was a resident of Adarsh ​​Nagar, Haridwar Road, Dehradun. Narendra was returning home in an Alto car with his wife Ritesh, son Yash Kumar, and daughter Riya Kumari after visiting Mata Vaishno Devi.

    Alto Car Collides with Vehicle

    Around 4:30 AM on June 16, as the family’s car reached a point opposite Gurudwara Reru Sahib in Sahnewal, the driver of an unidentified vehicle ahead of them applied the brakes negligently. Consequently, the Alto car following behind collided with that vehicle.

    Driver Flees the Scene After the Incident

    All occupants of the car were injured in the accident. They were taken to the government hospital in Sector 32, Chandigarh, for treatment, where doctors declared Narendra Kumar dead. The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene immediately after the incident. Narendra worked in the private sector.

    Based on the statement of the complainant, Rajnish Sharma, the Sahnewal police have registered a case against the unidentified driver under Sections 281, 106, 125(a), 125(b), and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police are examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras and attempting to identify the absconding driver.
