Farmer ID Mandatory for PM Kisan Benefits, Says Jalandhar Agriculture Officer

Punjab: Jalandhar’s Chief Agriculture Officer, Dr. Jaswinder Singh, has announced that farmers availing benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan) must create a Farmer ID to continue receiving financial assistance. He clarified that farmers without a valid Farmer ID will not be eligible for future benefits under the scheme.

According to him, only those farmers who complete the registration process and obtain a Farmer ID will be considered beneficiaries going forward.

    Registration Process Through CSCs

Dr. Singh explained that farmers can generate their Farmer IDs by visiting their nearest Common Service Centers (CSCs). The initiative is part of the government’s effort to build a comprehensive database of farmers.

This database aims to ensure that benefits of various government schemes are transferred directly into farmers’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring greater transparency and efficiency.

Farmers Urged to Register Without Delay

He urged farmers to complete their registration at the earliest to avoid disruption in benefits. Farmers are required to carry their Aadhaar card and land ownership documents when visiting CSCs for registration.

Agriculture officials have also emphasized the importance of timely enrollment to remain eligible for future assistance.

    Village-Level Camps to Facilitate Registration

To make the process easier, the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, in collaboration with CSCs, is organizing special registration camps at the village level.

Officials stated that these camps are aimed at ensuring maximum participation and convenience for farmers, especially those in rural areas.

Unique Kisan ID to Simplify Verification

After successful registration, each farmer will be issued a unique Kisan ID. This ID will be linked to their existing PM Kisan account, enabling smoother verification of identity and land records.

Farmers seeking more information regarding the Kisan ID or registration process have been advised to contact their respective Block Agriculture Officer.

With these measures, the government aims to streamline benefit distribution and enhance transparency in farmer welfare schemes.
