Farmers announce protest against CM’s ‘Shukrana Yatra’ in Amritsar

Amritsar: Farmer and labor organizations have announced protests against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s “Shukrana Yatra” in Amritsar. Sarwan Singh Pandher, leader of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee Punjab, said that farmers and laborers will peacefully reach wherever the Chief Minister holds rallies and tours and question the government.

Government cornered on MSP, loan waivers, and drug abuse issues

Pandher said that Punjab’s farmers are burdened with debt and are increasingly forced to commit suicide. Meanwhile, the state’s youth are ruining their futures by falling prey to drug abuse. He said that unemployment is also rising steadily, but the government is not taking these issues seriously.

Allegations of politics in the name of religious pilgrimages

The farmer leader alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal are holding political rallies in the name of religious sites and pilgrimages. He claimed that people from villages are being brought to events in vehicles to divert attention from real issues.

Questions on Central and State Government Policies

Pandher described issues such as the privatization of the Electricity Board, the Seed Law, and the India-US Agreement as threats to Punjab’s agriculture and farmers. He alleged that the government is benefiting big industrialists and the mafia, while promises made during the elections, such as a legal guarantee of MSP, loan waivers, and an end to corruption, have yet to be fulfilled.

Preparations for a Peaceful Farmer-Laborer Gathering

He announced that a large farmer-laborer gathering will be held in the Chahuan village field between Raiya and Jandiala Guru. During this, farmers will raise their issues with the government and register their protest peacefully.
