On the call of Samyukat Kisan Morcha Farmers block Jalandhar-Delhi highway Near Dhannowali

Jalandhar: On the call if  Samyukat Kisan Morcha farmers of different organizations have block the Jalandhar Delhi National Highway near Dhannowali. Farmers already announced that they block roads at various locations across the state today.

SKM leader Balbir Singh Rajewal stated that it is the first time in Punjab that the government has failed to procure the paddy. He mentioned that the Farmers’ organization will hold a meeting on October 14 to decide on the next steps for protest.

Kashmir Singh, farmer leader of Samyukta Kisan Morcha Doaba, said that whether it is the Modi government at the center or the Punjab government, both the governments are bent on humiliating the farmers. The new crop of paddy of the farmers has reached the mandis but the stores are not empty yet.

The central government has not lifted the previous crop from the stores. Due to which the farmers are facing difficulty in selling their crop in the mandis.

Kashmir Singh said that the upcoming wheat and potato crop is on the head but they are not getting the DAP fertilizer available on subsidy from the depots. Farmers have to buy DAP fertilizer from the open market at high prices.

On the other hand, Punjab Food Supply Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak says that farmers will not be allowed to face any kind of problem in purchasing paddy crop in the mandis. The paddy crop of the farmers is being purchased in the mandis.

The main roadblocks will be near the Jalandhar-Ludhiana Highway at Dhannowali and the Jalandhar Pathankot Highway at Bhogpur. Jalandhar City and Rural Police officials are on alert regarding the road blockade. This decision was made in a recent meeting in Chandigarh. Today, on Sunday, the roadblocks will be in place for three hours. This was announced by Samyukat Kisan Morcha leader Balveer Singh Rajewal.
