Farmers tractor parade in Rohtak under SKM; press for unfulfilled demands

In Rohtak, a tractor parade was organized on Republic Day under the banner of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha by the All India Kisan Sabha (All India Farmers’ Association) to press for the farmers’ pending demands.

Members of the Kisan Sabha had also conducted awareness campaigns in villages to prepare for the tractor parade. The parade started from the grain market and concluded on the Delhi bypass.

Comrade Inderjit Singh, National General Secretary of the Kisan Sabha, said that farmers were holding tractor parades at district headquarters with their tractors at the call of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha to press for demands such as a legal guarantee for crop procurement, release of compensation for crop damage, curbing the arbitrary practices of insurance companies in crop insurance claims, and withdrawal of the smart meter scheme.

Government not serious about farmers’ demands
Preet Singh, District Vice President of the Kisan Sabha, accused the government of ignoring the farmers’ demands, stating that there had been heavy losses to the Kharif crops in the district, and farmers are still awaiting compensation.

The Kisan Sabha appealed to the district administration to ensure that farmers receive their compensation. They also warned of a protest at the DC office if their demands are not met.
