Farooq Abdullah’s Big Statement: No Support from Alliance for Restoration of Statehood; targets Congress

National Conference President Farooq Abdullah has stated that the INDIA alliance, particularly the Congress party is not providing the expected support regarding the issue of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

In an interview, he noted that while his party remains a part of the INDIA alliance, the coalition has failed to adopt a united and strong stance on this matter. The lack of a concrete and joint strategy concerning issues related to Jammu and Kashmir constitutes the most significant problem.

Farooq Abdullah asserted that the alliance should not remain merely an electoral platform; rather, it should hold regular meetings to address critical issues such as the future of the country and of Jammu and Kashmir. He added that the opposition has, thus far, failed to provide leadership capable of effectively countering the challenges posed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Confidence in Centre Govt, assurance given for statehood, says Abdullah

Expressing confidence in the Central Government, he pointed out that both the Prime Minister and the Home Minister have given assurances regarding the restoration of statehood, and it is hoped that a decision in this regard will be taken once the electoral processes are concluded.

Furthermore, he stated that if statehood is not restored despite the repeated assurances given, his party may explore legal options and could potentially approach the Supreme Court.
