NC Chief Farooq Abdullah urges J&K students in Iran to return home

Srinagar: National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah today urged students from Jammu and Kashmir studying in Iran to return home immediately, citing an official advisory from authorities. Let us tell you that students who are studying in Iran for higher studies are largely from Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Abdullah emphasized the need for prompt action to avoid complications later.“I want to tell students of JK who are currently in Iran to come back as soon as possible because later you can’t come home. An advisory has already been issued, so they should return,” he said.

He did not provide details on the specific nature of the advisory but stressed urgency, warning that delays could make evacuation difficult—particularly if airspace closes, potentially causing panic among families.

In related comments reported elsewhere, Abdullah highlighted the risk of parents panicking if students remain and travel becomes restricted, advising them to “pack their bags and return home” before such scenarios arise.

The statement comes amid broader advisories for Indian citizens in Iran, though Abdullah focused specifically on students from Jammu and Kashmir. In the same address, he also congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team for qualifying for the Ranji Trophy final.
