UP Woman Held for Allegedly Trying to Electrocute Husband in Fatehpur; Victim Critical

Fatehpur: A woman has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district for allegedly attempting to kill her husband by tying him to a cot, assaulting him, and trying to electrocute him inside their home. The victim remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kanpur.

The incident took place in Parsadepur village under the Aung police station limits and is under investigation.

Husband Allegedly Tied to Cot and Electrocuted

According to police and family members, the victim, Sanjeev Tiwari, works as a confectioner. He had returned home from work when his wife, Ranno Devi, allegedly attacked him with a stick, striking him on the head.

Family members alleged that she then tied him to a cot, repeatedly assaulted him, and attempted to electrocute him by passing electric current through his body using a live wire.

Family Rescues Victim

Hearing cries for help, family members rushed to the room and forced open the door. They found Sanjeev tied to the cot with an electric wire wrapped around his body.

The family immediately removed the wire and rushed him to a nearby hospital. After receiving first aid, he was referred to the District Hospital and later shifted to Kanpur for advanced treatment, where he remains in critical condition.

Police Register Case, Woman Arrested

Police reached the spot after receiving information through the emergency 112 helpline and recorded the victim’s statement after his condition stabilised.

According to Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik, Sanjeev’s brother later filed a formal complaint against Ranno Devi. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and took the accused into custody.

Officials said further legal action will be taken after completing the investigation and verifying all allegations.

Second Similar Incident in Fatehpur

The case comes less than two weeks after another shocking incident in Fatehpur’s Malwan police station area, where a woman allegedly poured petrol on her husband and set him on fire, leading to his death.

The latest incident has once again drawn attention to violent domestic disputes reported from the district in recent weeks.
