Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: The father of Dr Shaheen, a Lucknow-based woman doctor arrested in connection with the massive explosives haul in Faridabad, expressed disbelief on Tuesday, saying he “didn’t know she could be involved in such activities.”
Dr Shaheen, who hails from Daliganj, Lucknow, was arrested on Monday following raids by police and intelligence agencies. Her father, Syed Ahmad Ansari, told IANS that she studied medicine in Allahabad and had been working in Faridabad, where she was married to a man from Maharashtra.
“I cannot believe that my daughter was involved in such activities. I last spoke to her about a month ago,” Ansari said, adding that he had not met her in over a year and a half.
Doctor Linked to Al-Falah University and Arrested Kashmiri Associate
Officials said that Dr Shaheen was associated with Al-Falah University and was in close contact with Dr Muzammil, a Kashmiri doctor arrested earlier after 2,900 kg of explosives and inflammable material were recovered from his rented rooms in Faridabad.
Based on Muzammil’s confession, police recovered a Swift car belonging to Dr Shaheen, from which a Kalashnikov assault rifle was seized.
Statewide Raids and NIA Probe Underway
Haryana DGP O.P. Singh confirmed that raids are being carried out across the state, including at Al-Falah Medical College and Hospital, as part of the ongoing probe into the terror module.
Over 52 people, including faculty members, students, and the college principal, have been interrogated so far.
Teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) also visited Shaheen’s family home in Lucknow after her arrest.
Faridabad Explosives Case Linked to Delhi Blast
The development comes a day after a blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station, where a Haryana-registered Hyundai i20 exploded near Gate No. 1, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens.
Investigators suspect that the Faridabad terror module may be linked to the Delhi explosion, as authorities continue to trace the network behind the incidents.
