Father Kills 12-Year-Old Son, Dies by Suicide in Bhilwara

Bhilwara: A 40-year-old man allegedly killed his 12-year-old son before taking his own life in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district on Friday morning. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. in the Badliyas police station area.

Son Found with Slit Throat

According to preliminary information, the father attacked his son with a sickle used for harvesting crops. The child died on the spot after his throat was slit.

DSP Babulal Bishnoi said neighbors alerted the family after noticing something unusual. When relatives arrived, the main gate was locked from inside. They jumped over the wall to enter the house and found the boy’s body lying in a room. The sickle used in the attack was recovered from the house.

Father Consumed Poison After Attempting Hanging

Police said that after killing his son, the man first attempted to hang himself from a ceiling fan. When that failed, he consumed poison.

He was found in severe pain inside the room and was rushed to the district hospital by family members. However, he died during treatment. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.

Family Dispute Under Investigation

Police revealed that the man had ongoing disputes with his wife, who had been living at her parents’ home due to discord. At the time of the incident, only the father and son were present in the house.

Investigators are also examining a video reportedly recorded by the man a few days earlier and shared in a village group. In the video, he allegedly spoke about financial issues, disputes with his in-laws, and mentioned ending his life along with his son.

The bodies have been kept at the hospital for postmortem by a medical board. The FSL team from Bhilwara has collected evidence from the scene, and further investigation is underway.
