Final day of Bihar Assembly Winter session witnesses political firestorm

Patna, Bihar: The last day of the Winter session of the Bihar Assembly turned into a day of loud arguments, constant disruptions, and sharp political attacks. Both the ruling NDA and the Opposition RJD exchanged harsh words, making the atmosphere tense throughout the proceedings.

The session saw repeated uproars as leaders from both sides clashed over corruption charges, governance concerns, and issues linked to recent election schemes.

    Fodder scam remark sparks chaos

The tension rose sharply when Bihar Energy Minister and senior JD-U leader Bijendra Yadav started speaking and targeted the Opposition. A comment he made during his speech sparked immediate anger.

Yadav claimed that no fodder scam took place during Nitish Kumar’s tenure and insisted that the government was fully capable of arranging funds for public welfare work. However, his reference to the fodder scam infuriated RJD MLAs, who began shouting slogans and protesting loudly.

When the Minister went further and made remarks connected to former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, RJD legislators stood up together in protest, demanding that the Minister withdraw his statements.

The situation grew more heated when Yadav warned the Opposition, saying, “If you speak too much, I will expose more.”
This remark triggered a political storm, pushing both sides into a direct confrontation.

RJD MLAs accused the Minister of intentionally provoking them, while the ruling NDA countered by saying the Opposition was trying to divert public attention and lowering the dignity of the House.

This dramatic clash once again showed how deeply confrontational Bihar’s political environment has become, with tensions between the two sides likely to rise even further.

Uproar in Legislative Council over women’s scheme

A similar scene played out in the Bihar Legislative Council, where the Opposition targeted the government over the Chief Minister’s Women Employment Scheme.

RJD leaders alleged that the scheme was nothing but an election tactic. They claimed that the government distributed Rs 10,000 to each woman before the Assembly elections, not as genuine support but to influence votes.

Opposition leaders such as Sunil Kumar, Sandeep Saurabh, and Urmila Thakur cornered the government, demanding clarity and accusing it of misusing public money to gain political advantage.

They argued that the scheme lacked transparency and questioned why such large cash transfers were made so close to the elections.

    NDA leaders defend the government

The ruling NDA strongly rejected these accusations. Leaders such as Ashok Choudhary, Dilip Jaiswal, and Neeraj Kumar sharply responded to the Opposition’s claims.

They defended the women’s scheme, saying it was designed to support women financially and encourage employment, not to influence elections. They also accused the Opposition of spreading misinformation and attacking welfare programmes without facts.

In a strong counter-attack, NDA leaders advised the RJD and other Opposition members to “improve their conduct,” warning that if they continued such behaviour, their vote share might drop even further in future elections.

A session filled with political heat

The events of the day clearly showed that the Winter session ended on a highly confrontational note. Instead of calm discussions, the Assembly witnessed shouting, slogan-raising, and personal attacks.

The repeated clashes highlighted the widening gap between the ruling NDA and the Opposition RJD. Issues such as corruption allegations and election-related schemes are expected to remain major points of dispute as both sides prepare for the political battles ahead.

With both the Assembly and Legislative Council sessions ending in this dramatic manner, it is clear that Bihar’s political tensions are far from settling. As the state moves forward, these conflicts are likely to continue shaping the political landscape.
