FIR Filed Against BJP Leader in MP Over Alleged Molestation of Woman Doctor; Police Launch Probe

New Delhi: Police have registered an FIR against a BJP leader and another accused in connection with allegations of molestation and criminal intimidation of a woman doctor at Bundelkhand Medical College (BMC) in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district. The incident has triggered protests by doctors and disrupted healthcare services at the government medical college.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Narendra Solanki, the FIR has been lodged against BJP Yuva Morcha state working committee member Anil Shrivastava and another accused based on the complaint filed by the woman doctor.

The case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and police teams have launched searches to arrest the accused.

Alleged Incident Inside Hospital Campus at Night

Police said the incident allegedly took place around 1 a.m. on Friday inside the premises of Bundelkhand Medical College. As per the complaint, the accused allegedly misbehaved with the woman doctor and attempted to physically assault her. When she resisted, she was allegedly threatened with being shot, officials said.

Why the Incident Has Triggered Protest

The alleged assault has sparked widespread anger among doctors and healthcare workers at the medical college. Doctors went on strike shortly after the incident, demanding immediate arrest of the accused and strict action.

Healthcare professionals said the protest was necessary due to growing concerns over safety inside hospital premises, especially during night duty hours when staff members often work in isolated conditions.

Impact on Medical Services

The strike has severely affected outpatient and routine medical services at Bundelkhand Medical College, causing inconvenience to patients and their attendants. Many patients were left waiting as consultations and scheduled services were disrupted.

Officials said emergency services continued to function, but overall hospital operations remained impacted due to the protest.

Police teams have intensified efforts to trace and arrest the accused. Authorities said raids are being conducted at multiple locations and further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events.
