FIR will be lodged against illegal encroachment in Amritsar; Administration stance to deal with traffic jams

Traffic congestion remains a serious challenge in Amritsar, primarily due to illegal encroachments on roads. To address this issue, the Amritsar Traffic Police and the Municipal Corporation jointly launched a drive to remove encroachments by shopkeepers in the Majitha Road area.

This drive is an important step towards streamlining the city’s traffic system and ensuring safe movement for citizens. Authorities have warned shopkeepers that strict action will be taken against them if they do not stop encroaching.

ADCP Traffic Amandeep Kaur told the media that drives are being conducted periodically throughout Amritsar to remove encroachments by shopkeepers. She also stated that the public has been repeatedly briefed during these drives and has also been raised awareness through the media. The ADCP clarified that illegal encroachments are being removed at various places in the city, including Darbar Sahib and Shaheedan Sahib, to control traffic flow.

ADCP Amandeep Kaur warned shopkeepers that if they did not comply, cases would be filed against them under INS 163 and 295. This sent a clear message that the administration would not tolerate encroachment and strict action would be taken against those who violate the law.

Amritsar residents were also asked to cooperate in streamlining traffic flow to keep the city free of traffic jams. She urged citizens not to encroach on roads, follow traffic rules, and exercise patience.
