Fire Breaks Out for third time at HP Petrol Pump in Jalandhar; Residents Protest

A fire broke out on Tuesday at the HP petrol pump located in Guru Arjan Dev Nagar , Jalandhar. The incident has sparked outrage among residents, as this marks the third fire-related occurrence at this very petrol pump. Terrified by the presence of a petrol pump situated amidst a densely populated area, residents have intensified their demands for its relocation.

They have stated that if the administration fails to take immediate action, they will launch an indefinite sit-in protest and a hunger strike. Given the gravity of the situation, an individual present at the scene immediately utilized a fire extinguisher to bring the blaze under control, thereby averting a major disaster.

Gross Negligence Regarding Safety

Providing details regarding the matter, Khalsa District President Lucky stated that gross negligence is being exercised concerning safety protocols at the petrol pump. He noted that this is not an isolated incident; rather, it is the third consecutive fire-related occurrence at this location. Prior to this, a motorcycle had also caught fire during a separate incident.

Constant Apprehension of a Major Disaster

Local residents—along with President Lucky—allege that the petrol pump owner has failed to take any concrete measures despite the recurring incidents. Residents are terrified by the continuous mishaps at this petrol pump, which is situated in a densely populated zone, and they live under the constant apprehension of a major disaster striking at any moment.
